RAD TOURISM COMPANY Also known as Ancient Persia, Iran is located between the West and the East. It is an Islamic Republic whose territory is dominated by a central plateau which reaches an altitude of 1,220 m and is surrounded by mountain ranges. Much of central Iran is occupied by two vast deserts, inhospitable and uninhabited: the Dasht-i-Lut, of rock and sand (area of Kemran), and the Dasht-i-Kavir, of salt (area of Isfahan-Yazd ). The climate of Iran is continental, with particularly hot summers along the coast overlooking the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. On the central highlands the climate is more temperate, but extremely arid. Marked are the temperature, day and seasonal excursions. Almost half of Iran's population (45.6%) is made up of Persians, the rest is divided between Azeris and Turkmen (16.8%), Kurds (9%) and other often nomadic ethnic groups. Most of the population is concentrated in the northern and western regions with a strong centralization in the capital Tehran, a large and chaotic metropolis.

The official religion of Iran is the current Shiite Islam, practiced by more than 95% of the population. About 4% of the population is Sunni Muslims; the country also hosts religious minorities of Christians, Jews, followers of Zoroastrianism and Bahai who coexist peacefully. Today, Iran is an absolutely safe and very hospitable country with an unparalleled historical and cultural heritage. The best times to visit it are spring and autumn and the cities you absolutely shouldn't miss are: Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd and Shiraz with nearby Persepolis. An entry visa is required which can be obtained upon arrival, before departure at the Consulate / Embassy or prepaid from Italy (and pick up on arrival at the airport). The connections from Italy are good: direct flights operated by Alitalia, Iran Air or Mahan Air plus several other possibilities with stopovers.
