Homeland and shelter of daring sailors and pirates since ancient times, Oman was controlled by the Portuguese in the early 16th century. It became the most powerful sultanate of the State of Arabia in the first half of the nineteenth century, finally achieving independence in the twentieth century. And this is precisely where we must start to understand this country, considered a place where, in the words of the poet Ahmed bin Majid al-Najdi, "it is possible to make great business deals and experience wonders unthinkable elsewhere". Indeed, Oman looks like a postcard. To see again and again: irregular coasts, quiet beaches, steep mountains, salty lowlands, oases and deserts.
The Sultanate of Oman is a destination to discovered. Its people identify with their ancient traditions and its territory is characterised by landscapes and scenarios of rare beauty: from the immense deserts, such as Wahiba Sands, Woodland, and Rub Al Khali, which have always attracted merchants and caravans, to the great cliffs of Ras Markaz; from the golden beaches of the Indian Ocean to lush oases, such as Wadi Darbat; from fjords and bays to fishing villages. The cities of Oman are millenary and connected by very ancient itineraries, such as the Incense Route: among others, Muscat, the capital, where the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is located, Nizwa and Salalah, in the southern area of Oman at the border with Yemen; one of the most evocative landscapes is certainly Wadi ghul, the second deepest canyon in the world after the very famous one in Arizona.
A trip to Oman is a trip between enchanted dunes and an intense blue sea; it is a journey in the aromas of the local markets and the sound of the incredible silence of the desert.

NEWS

Oman highlights its cultural offerings, showcasing renovations, expansions, and recent restoration works to kick off the new 2022/2023 season, following the opening of the Royal Opera House.

The Sultanate offers travellers a wide variety of sites to visit, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the four sites along the Ancient Incense Route, the archaeological site of Bat, Al Khutm and Al Ayn, Bahla Fort, and the ancient aflaj irrigation system. The country also boasts the Forts Route, with over 1000 forts scattered across the territory from north to south.

After 4 years of restoration work, a jewel of this territory, the Bait Al Ghasham Museum, reopens. Located about 45 minutes by car from the capital Muscat, it features original watchtowers, a charming courtyard, and a date shop. The museum also serves as a forum for hosting events and artistic evenings, offering an authentic culinary experience that immerses visitors in Omani tradition.

The epitome of Omani culture is Jabreen Castle, which has just opened a new café-restaurant inside to allow visitors to taste traditional delicacies after touring the castle and fort. Built in the 17th century to accommodate an imam of the Ya’Aruba dynasty, the castle's most surprising feature is its enormous central tower, with a diameter of 45 metres. From its top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire city and the typical date palm trees, one of the country's delicacies.

In Nizwa, the ancient fortified capital of Oman, stands Nizwa Fort, built during the Yarubi dynasty's reign in the 17th century and restored in 1998. The structure rises on a stone base, is about 30 metres high, and features a narrow staircase at the entrance, leading to the interior of the fort. Recently, the ground floor has become an exhibition space dedicated to the ancient capital's history, as well as the Kingdom of Arabia Felix from historical and geological perspectives.

Last but not least, Husn Bait al Marah Castle, located in the Yanqul province, has recently been opened to the public. It is the third largest historical building in Oman, surrounded by farms, ancient local houses, and the wilayat market. A particular characteristic of this structure is its rectangular shape and the 8-metre walls surrounding it on all sides; it also has only one outward-facing door, called the Sabah Gate.

Qatar

Qatar is a safe and welcoming country. One of the few countries where the cultural tradition of the country is still lived, with an eye to the future. Doha is a collected city, affordable, safe and full of very interesting and well-kept museums and there are countless events that are organized in Doha from October to April. The impressive number of international events in the coming years such as "Horticultural Expo" and "FIFA world cup 2022" are definitely a reason to go there. It is a country tied to its traditions but open to the different cultures of other countries. It offers a wonderful desert, with dunes that reach the sea. Uncontaminated beaches just a few minutes from Doha, where there is also one of the most beautiful souks in the Middle East. The attention to eco-sustainability and the protection of some natural areas with unique ecosystems to be preserved is a pride of the country. It can be reached from all over Italy with direct Qatar flights and with connections to many countries in Africa, the Indian Ocean and Asia. Qatar Airways is an airline with high standards of quality and safety. The feed back from Italian visitors is excellent.

HTMS partner in Bahrain

Bahrain

An archipelago of 33 islands, just in front of the western coasts of the Persian Gulf. It is Bahrain, an emirate until 2002 and then transformed into a kingdom, constituted as a constitutional monarchy. A new frontier of tourism, a destination still unknown to many, but rich in centuries of history: the first evidence dates back to the second millennium BC, when it was an important crossroads of trade between Mesopotamia and India. In Arabic language Bahrayn is the dual form of the noun Bahr (sea), the etymology of the name therefore brings back to the meaning of "kingdom of the two seas". The wealth of this small Arabian state have always been the consistent oil fields: sale and refining of crude oil are still today the main source of income of the country. It began to be known in the world in 2004 when it hosted for the first time the Formula 1 Grand Prix: the Bahrain International Circuit, this is its official name, was built in the desert, 25 kilometers south of the capital Manama. It was precisely from that circuit that a process of development began that would soon lead Bahrain to become the new pearl of the Gulf, an emerging destination thanks to its marvelous nature and the skillful work of man: the skyscrapers of Manama are one of the most daring and elegant skylines of the Third Millennium. A new world, yet to be discovered.

A safe and welcoming country. One of the few countries where the country's cultural tradition is still lived, with a look to the future. A country tied to its traditions but open to the different cultures of other countries. Bahrain makes a trip more personal. It is a place that you don't just visit, you feel it. The Bahrain experience is delivered by its people. Bahrain is authentic, hospitable, and modern.

Natural Landscapes such as the Hejaz mountains and the Empty Quarter (the largest desert in the world) offer breathtaking views; The crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea attract nature lovers.
Culture and History: Mecca and Medina are ancient sacred cities of Islam. The Great Mosque of Mecca and the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Medina are places of great significance.
Less crowded archaeological sites offer an authentic experience.
Future Development: By 2030, Saudi Arabia will host the Expo in Riyadh, with new skyscrapers and growing neighbourhoods. New cities like Trojena, powered by renewable energy, are emerging in the desert.

Intriguing and ever-evolving, Saudi Arabia is a destination to discover for those seeking authentic adventures and a unique mix of history and modernity. Bahrain is a safe and welcoming country.
